The concept of survey through the third party was ever new in independent Bangladesh. Few farsighted entrepreneurs started a different kind of survey in a very limited manner. In 1980’s the Government of Bangladesh under the insurance Act started issuing license to surveyors under the survey Act. However, some of the license’s were issued by the then Controller of Insurance, Pakistan. To name a few : Sinclair Murray, Allied Inspection, Republican Surveyors, Hanley Associates Ltd, James Finlay Ltd, Bengal Surveyors, Asiatic Surveyors, National Cargo Surveyors, SGS Inspection etc.
After the independence of Bangladesh some entrepreneurs started institutional survey organizations among those pioneers are Modern Surveyors Ltd, Agrani Inspection Co. Ltd, Lima Claims Surveyors, Annanya Surveyors Ltd, Eastern Surveyors, Meg Associates, Purbasha surveyors, Pearl Surveyors, Isarco Surveyors, Rupali Surveyors, Makson Inspection, Associated Assessors, Roma Surveyors, Ideal Surveyors, The Finder, etc
Though various institutions and persons in personal capacity started the survey business but especially the institutions who certified or enrolled under the Insurance Act presently known as IDRA [Insurance & Development & Regulatory Authority] formed a trade organization in 2007 under the name & style “Bangladesh Insurance Surveyors Association” i.e. BISA. At present the number of members is 136 [one hundred & thirty six] and it was formed by our 21[twenty-one] members whose names are as follows:

Some of the pioneers member are no more but fortunately maximum founder members are still giving their labour & service to make strong the association and to serve the nation at this financial turmoil also.
The aim & object of the association is to bring discipline in the field of survey to help the victims, insurer, degree holder and those persons who anticipate financial assistance from the bank & financial institutions to increase their capacity of production, built the factory and also to be covered by the insurance in case of any unfortunate incidence of fire, motor accident, marine hull & marine cargo claims, engineering aviation & others.
The association in 2018 started its project to digitize the activities of the association in order to help all the recipients to know their rights and claims and our services through internet at their finger tips.
